VIDACO and igm – advancing robotic welding for South-East European manufacturers

VIDACO will provide local consultation, system integration, commissioning, and technical support for igm technologies

From November 2025, VIDACO became the official representative of igm Robotersysteme AG for South-East Europe. This partnership connects igm’s global expertise in robotic welding with VIDACO’s regional engineering experience, giving manufacturers access to high-precision automation solutions supported directly from within the region.

About igm

For more than five decades, igm Robotersysteme AG has been one of Europe’s leading innovators in robotic welding systems. Headquartered in Austria with production facilities in Győr, Hungary, igm designs and builds fully integrated welding cells for complex industrial applications — including railway vehicles, earthmoving machinery, truck manufacturing, and heat exchanger production.

Each igm system is designed for real-world manufacturing environments, offering multi-axis flexibility, intelligent control, and adaptive welding parameters that ensure consistent quality even in high-volume or variable-geometry production. This focus on reliability and repeatability makes igm the preferred choice for manufacturers seeking efficiency, precision, and long-term stability in their welding processes.

Vidaco x igm - Shared engineering approach

The collaboration between VIDACO and igm is grounded in shared engineering values — precision, adaptability, and reliability. While igm provides decades of experience in advanced welding automation, VIDACO ensures every system is locally adapted, implemented, and supported by its regional engineering team.

By combining igm’s modular robotic technology with VIDACO’s expertise in system integration, mechanical design, and after-sales service, manufacturers across South-East Europe gain seamless access to European-grade automation without the challenges of cross-border coordination.

This approach allows each project to be developed as a complete engineering solution — from design and installation to training and maintenance — ensuring optimal performance and long-term return on investment.

What the partnership means for clients

With VIDACO as the exclusive igm representative in South-East Europe, regional manufacturers now have a single, trusted partner for the entire lifecycle of robotic welding projects. The cooperation simplifies technical communication, shortens delivery times, and enables direct engineering collaboration between teams in Croatia, Austria, and Hungary.

Every system is tailored to the client’s specific production line, materials, and output requirements. The result is greater welding precision, improved process consistency, and faster integration — all supported locally by engineers who understand the region’s industrial environment and regulatory standards.

Looking ahead

The VIDACO–igm partnership is more than a distribution agreement; it is a long-term commitment to bringing the best of European engineering to South-East Europe. Together, the companies are enabling manufacturers in key sectors — from railway vehicle and truck production to earthmoving machinery and heat exchanger fabrication — to automate more efficiently, compete globally, and grow sustainably.

Martin Hrastinski talks growth at Vidaco

From education to innovation: Martin Hrastinski talks growth at Vidaco

As a recent graduate with a Master’s in mechanical engineering, Martin Hrastinski is already finding his way at Vidaco, where he’s gaining invaluable experience in automation and robotics. In this interview, he shares how his role at Vidaco is shaping his career and pushing him to grow both professionally and personally.

Q: Hi Martin. Tell us something about your educational background?

A: I completed my Master’s in mechanical engineering at the University North in Varaždin, specializing in Production. It gave me a solid foundation in engineering principles, production processes, and modern manufacturing tech. I learned a lot about production optimization, quality control, and advanced manufacturing methods.

Q: How does working for Vidaco bring value and growth for you, as a young engineer?

A: Even though I’ve only been at Vidaco for a short while, it’s already given me a deep dive into automation and robotics. I’m hands-on with cutting-edge tech and learning how Vidaco innovates for clients. It’s not just about honing my technical skills; it’s personal growth too. Challenges here keep me sharp and the team vibe pushes me to grow professionally and personally. I’m eager to keep developing in this dynamic field and help Vidaco thrive.

Q: What are the biggest challenges for you as a young engineer working with clients?

A: Building trust and credibility is a big one. Being new to the game, I work hard to show I know my stuff and can deliver. Clear communication is key—I must listen closely, ask the right questions, and explain solutions in a way that clicks. Managing expectations is another challenge, especially with complex tech issues. But with each project, I gain more confidence and skills to handle it all better.

Q: What’s your vision of yourself in the next year?

A: Professionally, I see myself diving deeper into automation and robotics, tackling more complex projects, and stepping up in my team. I want to be a go-to engineer, delivering top-notch results for our clients. Personally, I’m focused on sharpening my communication and problem-solving skills. I aim to be a more seasoned pro who can take on any challenge with confidence and be a real asset to the team.

Wollsdorf

For Wollsdorf, we produced custom solution for stretching full size, finished automotive leather hides

We developed a game-changing machine in just months!

Vidaco provided custom solution for stretching full size, finished automotive leather hides, that Wollsdorf needed as integral part of newly developed process for automatic leather quality inspection. Due to very specific requirements and high quality level required in automotive steering wheel leather, requirements for the machine were very specific and no market solution was adaptable for this purpose. Machine provided the client with ability to stretch the hide in 32 axis independently with fine adjustment of force and travel for each axis. Seamless integration with other elements of the system allowed Wollsdorf to develop this unique approach to leather inspection.

How did the development of this product look like?

Looking in retrospect, development process went smoothly and quickly considering complexity and size of the project. From first discussions to commissioning in only few months we managed to exceed expectations allowing the client to gain additional insight in developing other parts of the system and thus improve and accelerate development process for the whole system.

What is so special about this product?

Complexity and uniqueness of such approach to leather inspection did not allow the client to use, or even adapt, market solutions. Necessity to seamlessly integrate hardware and software into single process was key. Also, having flexibility in controlling the process and changing requirements as we go, sometimes outside of the initial scope of the project, was key for the success.

Wollsdorf received our full support – here’s what they say:

“Since first discussions we saw VIDACO will provide us with expertise, flexibility and execution we needed. Looking at finished work we can say we are more that happy with the support and cooperation and we are looking forward to future endeavours“.
